A Quick Guide to the Ministry of Human Resources

The Ministry of Human Resources in Malaysia (MOHR) is also known locally as the Kementerian Sumber Manusia). It is a ministry within the Government of Malaysia itself.

The Vision and Mission of the Department

MOHR’s vision is to become the leading agency when it comes to the management and development of Malaysia’s workforce. The department as a mission that includes the following:

Always ensuring the health and the safety of the local workforce.
To create and nurture a workforce that is competitive, skilled, and knowledgeable.
Continuously nurturing a growing, productive, disciplined, and informative workforce that helps enhance economic growth and create better job opportunities.
Maintain industrial relationships between employers, employees, and the trade unions for the wellness of the public.
To be a leader in development when it comes to the nation’s human resource.
To continuously ensure that democracy is practised among trade unions.
Upholding social justice in resolving disputes between employer and employees.

What the MOHR Is Responsible For

The Ministry of Human Resources department is responsible for overseeing the following areas:

Industrial relations
Industrial court
Skills development
Social security
Labour market analysis and information

The Organising Committee

The Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia has an organisational structure that looks like this:

The main person in charge is the Minister of Human Resources
The Minister is followed by the Deputy Minister of Human Resources and the Secretary-General

The following departments will report to the Secretary-General:

The next that follows would be the Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and International). This person will oversee the following areas:
